Image-guided Adaptive Radiotherapy for Bladder Cancer

چکیده
Technological advancement has facilitated patient-specific radiotherapy in bladder cancer. This been made possible by developments image-guided (IGRT). Particularly transformative the integration of volumetric imaging into workflow. The ability to visualise target using cone beam computed tomography and magnetic resonance initially assisted with determining magnitude inter- intra-fraction change. It led greater confidence ascertaining true anatomy at each fraction. increased certainty dose delivered permitted safe reduction planning volume margins. IGRT therefore improved coverage a integral surrounding tissue. Use feed back plan delivery optimisation according day enabled adaptive solutions. Here we undertake review stepwise underpinning strategies for external cancer radiotherapy. We present evidence accordance framework systematic clinical evaluation technical innovations radiation oncology (R-IDEAL).

Image - guided radiotherapy for esophageal cancer
Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common malignancy worldwide, with more than 480,000 new patients diagnosed annually. The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma is increasing, whereas the incidence of squamous cell carcinoma has not changed. According to the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) statistics, the 5-year survival rate for esophageal carcinoma based on stage at diag...
متن کاملA contour-guided deformable image registration algorithm for adaptive radiotherapy.
In adaptive radiotherapy, deformable image registration is often conducted between the planning CT and treatment CT (or cone beam CT) to generate a deformation vector field (DVF) for dose accumulation and contour propagation. The auto-propagated contours on the treatment CT may contain relatively large errors, especially in low-contrast regions. A clinician's inspection and editing of the propa...
متن کاملPromising results with image guided intensity modulated radiotherapy for muscle invasive bladder cancer
AIM To describe the feasibility of image guided intensity modulated radiotherapy (IG-IMRT) using daily soft tissue matching in the treatment of bladder cancer. METHODS Twenty-eight patients with muscle-invasive carcinoma of the bladder were recruited to a protocol of definitive radiation using IMRT with accelerated hypofractionation with simultaneous integrated boost (SIB). Isotropic margins ...
متن کاملA fast model for prediction of respiratory lung motion for image-guided radiotherapy: A feasibility study
Background: The aim of this work was to study the feasibility of constructing a fast thorax model suitable for simulating lung motion due to respiration using only one CT dataset. Materials and Methods: For each of six patients with different thorax sizes, two sets of CT images were obtained in single-breath-hold inhale and exhale stages in the supine position. The CT images were then ...
متن کاملImage-guided prostate radiotherapy: analysis of inter- fractional setup errors
Introduction: The accuracy of the patient setup and tumor location are major factors that determine the efficacy of radiotherapy treatment planning. In the prostate radiotherapy, reproducibility of the prostate location for each treatment fraction is problematic owing to varying filling of the rectum and bladder. According to this, the aim of this study was to measure the inte...
